Epilogue

The therapies sessions end as JACK, CLIENT and Eli, Therapist go their separate ways. Or do they? Actually, it is now time to confess, to reveal the actual identities of these two men who by means of their dialogue guided us through this anger management method.
As I mentioned in the beginning, both these men are real people, and these are their original words. Although the original descriptions of JACK, CLIENT and Eli, Therapist are true, they are somewhat deceptive. Whether I am to be condemned or understood for why I constructed this little deception, you be the judge.
In case you have not yet guessed it . . . both men are me. I gave them false identities and names. They are separated by over twenty years of experience and wisdom. JACK, CLIENT is me in my early forties when I was wrestling with the addictions of both of my children, a failed marriage, and the loss of my business.
Eli, Therapist is me, in my mid-sixties with much more experience, but to my great surprise still remorseful about my reaction back when my daughter tried to sneak out. I know there were many other times where my anger hurt family members, but this one sticks out as the most memorable and most painful.
Writing about that night, I underwent a great deal of personal healing. Through this dialectic exercise, I was able to work through that experience. I did not expect healing’s release, but I am grateful to have received the peace of self-forgiveness I so long sought.
